You’re the Star Video Productions has
been named the winner of a 2008
WAVE (Western Access in Video Excellence) Award.
This excellence in videography award was
presented by the Alliance
For Community Media (ACM) to the City of Lompoc for the
video episode entitled "Mission Possible" created
by You're the Star Video Productions
for Santa Barbara County's Tap TV cable series "Discover
Lompoc."
This episode aired for over a month on cable
TV and a copy complete with a personal plea from Lompoc Mayor
Dick DeWees was forwarded to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
In the end, La Purisma Mission and Park remained open.
The City of Lompoc offered the following
commendation regarding the 2008 WAVE award: "Thanks to
the TAP TV Studio Administrator, Gregg Ratcliff, for recommending
that we apply for the award and the "Discover Lompoc"
production team, Gary & Harlene Conlin from You're the
Star Video Productions, for delivering an award-winning product."
The 2008 WAVE awards were announced during
the ACM Western Region Fall Conference October 24-25, 2008,
where the theme was "Access without Borders: New
Frontiers in Community Media." The competition included
300 video selections submitted by ACM producers from
the following western states: Arizona, California, Colorado,
Hawaii, Nevada and New Mexico.
You're The Star Video Productions
is now in it's third year of producing "Discover
Lompoc" - a community-based informational TV program
that airs on Comcast Cable Channel 23 four times a week.
A new "Discover Lompoc"
video episode debuts each month. The series has featured such
topics as: The Rotary Club; Santa Barbara County Wine Tasting;
Vandenberg Air Force Base History; Flower industry & Festival;
Cruise Night; Old Town Market; Brushes & Blues Festival;
the Mural Society; and The Aquatic Center. Inspired by Huell
Howser’s “California Gold” and
launched/hosted by Kate Griffith (City Economic Development
Coordinator), the program seeks to highlight unique aspects
of the community and motivate others to utilize the Media
Center resources. You're the Star Video Productions
is proud to be part of this community-based cable TV series.
